QUESTION:
I HAVE A 2004 FORD F150 SUPERCREW(
2 WHEEL DRIVE
ANSWER:
It’s always best to go with what the mechanic says, only because we cannot see the vehicle or have access to it.There are a lot of parts on a suspension, it could be almost anything. Struts themselves would not make a noise. They are just a hydraulic cylinder. Mounts typically squek and click when one goes bad. Both of these, especially the mount, are easy for a mechanic to check. But it sounds like they did that already. Normaly if a strut / shock is bad, you will get really bad tire wear, so if the tire wear is good, it’s probably something else. But that’s just a guess, all we can do via internet.

I have the same annoying rattling in the front end when traveling at slow speeds over rough roads, etc. The truck handles fine through the big stuff, but that rattle is aggravating. Several mechanics at different shops have said that everything is okay, however I will take it in to the dealer for one more thorough check. From what I can gather, if nothing is really wrong with the suspension and other important parts, it must be the cheap tire/engine water guard that shakes and rattles as the truck rolls.
I have an 2004 with the same problem and it ended up being the stabalizer bar end links.I replaced them with new ones and the problem is solved
I’ve had the same thingb with my 01. it was also the sway bar ends. one rusted and broke. I fixed it and the other broke witin a month. Replaced both at the same time. $10 a side if you do it yourself. cut the old off with a hacksaw or other metal cutting tool. What happens is the sway bar hits the mount that it broke away from. hope that is your issue too… easy fix.
