Model: 2004 GMC Yukon Denali
What is your driving style: Normal Driver
Suspension Type: Rear Self Leveling

Question: Hi,
I am looking to replace the OEM air shocks with regular HD shocks. I know there are some computer issues to deal with, but I think this can be handled by reprogramming the control module. Do you know if the F4-BE5-E380-H0 Bilsteins will do the job? I am towing a 6,500 lbs travel trailer using a weight distributing hitch. Do I need heavier duty coil springs or spacers? Thanks.

Answer:To replace the ZW7 air leveling system’s Nivomat style shocks with a regular shock, you would need to install a heavy duty spring to make up for the support the air shock gave you. There is no kit available to replace the Nivomat rear shocks with regular shocks, but we do have a kit to replace them with Bilstein air shocks. These shocks will retain your vehicle’s self leveling ability without the crazy price of the factory replacement ZW7 Nivomats.
You can see more details on that kit here:

Model: 1998 Buick Park Avenue

Question: My Park Avenue has rear self leveling shocks. The system that provides air to the shock in NOT working. Can a standard Park Ave shock without self leveling be used as a replacement?

Answer: Because the rear airshocks help to hold the rear of your Park Avenue up, you can’t just swap in standard shocks. The rear springs on air suspension Park Avenue models are softer than the ones on standard cars, so if you don’t replace the shocks with another capable of holding the car up, your rear end will sag. Monroe makes a conversion kit for the Park Avenue to replace the
air shocks in the rear with loadleveler shocks, which have a coil spring wound around the shock to give the car a normal ride height. You can see that air spring conversion kit here:

Question: I want to get rid of my 1998 Cadillac Deville’s electronic air shocks, is there a conversion kit that will change my suspension over to a regular shock?

Answer: We do have a conversion kit for the 1998 Cadillac Deville. There are actually two different kits available. The front strut conversion kit will convert your electronic front struts to traditional, non adjustable units. The rear conversion kit is designed to replace the expensive electronic units with traditional air shocks, which will save you a lot of money and will keep your rear air leveling system functional. You can see those here:

We also carry replacement electronic shocks and struts, which can be seen here:

Question:

I have a 2003 Cadillac Deville and my air lines rotted, which caused the compressor to run until it blew. I’m pretty sure the airshocks are blown too, but even if they aren’t, I’d rather replace them with a more reliable regular shock, is there a conversion kit available for my car?

Answer:

For the 2003 Cadillac Deville with rear air leveling, we have a Monroe conversion kit that replaces the factory air shocks with a more reliable and lower cost loadleveler shock. The loadleveler shock is a standard Sensatrac shock with a heavy duty spring attached to it, and will give your Cadillac the extra support it needs to compensate for the removal of the air leveling system.
