Question:

hi i have a 2007 mazdaspeed3 and would like to replace the stock struts.i have read so many thing on the mazdaspeed3 forum about which struts to buy it has left me a little confuse. am interested in the bilsteins but don’t know which is better the HD or the Sports for my car.I want a direct replacement meaning that you don’t have to modify anything but something that is better then stock and will work with my stock springs.can you help? thanks.

Answer:

The Bilstein Heavy Duty and Sport will both work with your Mazdaspeed 3 without any modifications. The Heavy Duty is a good performance shock that strikes a compromise between sportiness and comfort on the street while the Bilstein Sport is an all out performance shock. Both will be a great improvement over your stock shocks, it just comes down to how much stiffness you are looking for. You can see those here:

Question: What shocks will work with a small lowering kit?

Answer:
There are two great options for your Mustang with a small amount of lowering.

The KYB AGX can be adjusted to exactly the level of performance that you want:
2001 Ford Mustang KYB AGX Adjustable Front Strut

The Bilstein Heavy Duty is a high performance monotube shock that will give you good performance with a ride that won’t beat you up as much as a full race shock.

Answer: For the 1988 190D we have shocks from KYB and Bilstein. You can see those here:

KYB GR2 1988 Mercedes-Benz 190D Rear Shocks

If you’re looking for a good shock that will give you a ride similar to the factory one, I would recommend the KYB Gasajust/ GR2 combination or the Bilstein Light Duty (the Bilsteins are more expensive, but better built, so if you’re planning to keep the car forever, I would recommend those. If you’re looking to improve your handling, there are also Bilstein Heavy Duty (moderate upgrade) and Sport (high performance) shocks.

Question: Does the Z71 suspension require a special shock ?

Answer: The Z71 suspension uses high pressure monotube shocks from the factory, so we recommend replacing those with similar units so that your truck’s handling isn’t adversely affected by swapping out the shocks. We have a few great choices, all of which will perform as well or better than the factory shocks.
The KYB Monomax, Monroe Reflex Monotube and Bilstein Heavy Duty are all good choices for your Z71.

Model: 2001 Ford Mustang GT V8
Chassis Designation: Coupe
What is your driving style: Hard Performance Driver
Vehicle Setup: Rear Wheel Drive
Suspension Type: Regular Shocks or Struts

Question: Planning to replace struts, shocks, axle dampner’s and all bushings, etc. Looking at putting KYB Gasajust (P/N KG9023) shocks on rear axle. What would be a good strut for the front that will give an equal balanced performance with the Gasajust shocks on the rear? I am looking for better performance than the KYB GR2 series replacement struts.

Answer: you have three good choices to pair with the Gasajust shocks you’re getting for the rear that will all give you great handling. We have high pressure monotube struts available from Bilstein and Edelbrock, which you can see
here:
3381 Edelbrock Performer IAS Front Strut 2001 Ford Mustang GT

F4-V36-4138-H5 Bilstein Heavy Duty Front Strut 2001 Ford Mustang GT
And a manually adjustable twin-tube KYB AGX:

734014 KYB AGX Adjustable Front Strut 2001 Ford Mustang GT
The KYB is the least expensive, and is great for street cars because you can set the stiffness of the struts to your preference, but if you’re planning on doing extended periods of aggressive driving like track days for example, the monotube shocks may be a better choice for you, as they resist fade much better than a twin tube unit when heated up.

Answer: The best choice for shocks to improve the handling of a 2005 Mazda 3 are the Bilstein Sport shocks and struts, which are high pressure monotube shocks that are specifically valved for handling performance on the Mazda 3.

Question: I want my 2004 Porsche Boxster to handle the best that it possibly can, everyone says coilovers are the way to go. I thought they were just for lowering the car and I don’t care about that, bu if they’ll give me the best handling, I’ll buy them

Answer: Coilovers are the absolute best thing you can do for the handling of your Porsche short of having the suspension completely rebuilt with race car parts. Since we can’t ship you a team of engineers and fabricators, the BIlstein PSS9 coilover is your best choice. The Bilstein PSS9 coilover for the Porsche Boxster will lower the ride height, but the ride height is adjustable, so you can leave it high enough to drive on public roads on your way to the track, then lower it down for racing. You can see that part here:

Question: 1970, f250, camper special. lookin for a “stiffer” ride. been running the gas magnums for a while, kinda sloppy. is the kyb gas-a-just the way to go?truck is restored and is stock height. concerned the monomax may be too much.

Answer: The KYB’s are a great choice for stiffening the ride of your truck. Monroes do tend to be a bit sloppier in the way that the valving is setup in comparison to the KYB’s. Monroe uses a twin-tube design, which is great for OEM replacements, but KYB uses a mono-tube design for more control, better heat dissipation, and longer life.

Question: I’m looking for a performance shock for my 1958 Chevrolet Impala. Do you have anything that will fit and give me better handling?

Answer:

KYB offers a mono-tube Gasajust shock/strut for your vehicle. This will give you a better ride over a twin-tube design such as the Monroe Sensatrac’s, or the KYB GR2’s. You can see all of the options on our website. The link below will take you to the shocks/struts we have available for your vehicle.
