Charger R/T in 2006

QUESTION:
The standard suspension for the Charger R/T in 2006.. The car tends to roll around corners.. Passenger knees swing.. My wifes 2008 Magnum R/T doesn’t do that.. Will shocks fix that?

ANSWER:

When replacing the units on a Charger, for the best handling and control, you want to use the BIlsteins. We list those in our online catalog - http://www.shockwarehouse.com/index.cfm?mode=results&selected_model=3904&selected_year=2006 More about Bilsteins - http://www.shockwarehouse.com/site/bilstein_info.cfm

QUESTION:

I want to buy 2 rear air shocks or air bags for my 2006,dodge ram 3500, 4 wheel drive, 4 door pick up truck. The two I have questions about are be5-c614 ho air shock and 59555 air lift. I have a goose neck connection on my truck pulling a 40′ trailer hauling loads up to 20,000 lbs. Questions: How much weight each will handle, psi required, and most importanly what would be max lift and drop in height at rear of truck.

ANSWER:

Sorry, there are no airshocks for 3500 vehicles. Airlift does make an airkit, and we do list that in our online catalog-  http://www.shockwarehouse.com/index.cfm?mode=results&selected_model=3942&selected_year=2006 The two bags working together support around 5,000 lbs. The psi needed is determined by inflating the bag to achieve the level you need.Meaning, when the vehicle is sagging, you inflate the bag until the rear of the truck is level with the front. How much psi / air is used depends on the load and how much leveling is needed. Airlift does not mention the limit as far as lowering, but once the bag is deflated, the rear leaf springs (and load) will determined the height of the vehicle. Airlift bags are not designed to really lift the rear of a vehicle higher than the front (that can cause an unsafe handling condition), only to level the rear with the front for a balanced setup. They do not say what the maximum height is. Normally there will be something on the factory suspension that will limit how high you can go. You might run the height topics past Airlifts technical people - 800-248-0892 The Bilsteins are the best choice for shocks.

1995 olds ninety eight

QUESTION:

I own a 1995 olds ninety eight with the self leveling rear suspension. Do you know of a kit that will allowMe to use a regular shock in the rear instead of the self leveling units. IIf so what is the part # and cost of

the units?

ANSWER:

The companies we have only offer an air unit.  They do not mention a way to convert the car. (You might have to check with a GM mechanic on how or if that can be done). Another option would be to just use an airline with the air units, which allows you to fill them up manually.(this is a common alternative if the factory air-pump or computer goes bad). For the rear units, you want to use the 171798, 71798, or 801798.Here’s the link for those in our online catalog - http://www.shockwarehouse.com/index.cfm?mode=results&selected_model=249001&selected_year=1995 The airline adapter is AK29.Here’s the link for that kit (only one is needed)http://www.shockwarehouse.com/site/product.cfm?id=19941 The airline allows you to fill the rear air units just like filling a tire. :-)

1992 Cadillac Coupe Deville

QUESTION:

Monroe shock 801798 for the rear of a 1992 cadillac coupe deville. The vehicle is equipped with the auto leveling air feature. Is this replacement shock from Monroe an actual air strut replacement? I know many of the air replacement parts actually disconnect the air system and use just a normal strut in its place.

ANSWER:

You are correct, it’s a direct rplacement part. Bolts right in, and has the special GM air fittings already on it.Just install it, snap the factory airline on, and you are ready to go. Online catalog - http://www.shockwarehouse.com/index.cfm?mode=make&type=C

‘92 Nissan 2WD pickup

QUESTION:

I have a ‘92 Nissan 2WD pickup and somebody referred your website to me. I am interested in some KYB shocks and am having a hard time deciding on the Gasajust or the GR2 units. The roads/freeways out here in california have been getting bad and don’t look like they’ll get rebuilt anytime soon. Which ones would you recommend?

ANSWER:

The KYB GR2 are a twin tube low pressure design, similar to the original OE shocks. The Gasajust are a performance shock, a monotube design. If performance / handling is not your goal with the truck, just daily evryday driving, you should use the GR2s. Online catalog  - http://www.shockwarehouse.com/index.cfm?mode=make&type=T

Offroad Vehicle

QUESTIONS:

I need shocks for an offroad vehicle, coilover 24inch total length pretty light weight load but extermely rough service. Any suggestions?

ANSWERS:

Here’s the Rancho Coil-overs - http://www.shockwarehouse.com/site/rancho_coil_over.cfm Bilstein does make coil-overs, but they offer many more options, such as valving, length, external reservoirs, etc.(Bilstein does not provide the springs though like the Rancho ones). Their charts are here - http://www.shockwarehouse.com/news/downloads.cfm The 7100/9100/9300 are all coil-overs. Which setup you use depends on track conditions and track setup. That’s different for each track, and even vehicle setup can require 4 different valved units.

2007 Chevy Silverado Crewcab

QUESTION:

I have a 2007 Chevy Silverado Crewcab with the 20″ wheels and high performance suspension. Are these the correct shocks for the truck?ANSWER:

You want to click on the Bilstein part numbers in the online catalog, there you will see pictures of the shocks. There are many different GM truck possibilities, so they best way is just to check the pictures. We don’t have access to your truck, so there is no way for us to be sure what you model truck you have. (The wheel size will not effect what shock to use.)

QUESTION:

In searching for the appropriate rear shock absorbers for my 1996 Toyota Tacoma 4WD Pickup, 2.7 L Fuel injected Engine I noted that your information only lists that model “with TRD.” I’ve never seen that designation before. Could you please tell me what “TRD” stands for before I order? Thanks

ANSWERS:

TRD - Toyota Racing Development. If your truck has a big ole TRD Offroad Package sticker on the bed side, you have TRD.TRD Toyota trucks come stock with Bilstein units. If you don’t have TRD, that’s ok, because the Bilsteins (and other brands ) will still fit the non TRD trucks. Online catalog - http://www.shockwarehouse.com/index.cfm?mode=make&type=T
